SEMANTICS 101

In the fall of 1999 I had the privilege of attending an Orange County Supertones concert in Kansas City. At the time I was very much a Supertones Newbie. But alas, by the end of the night, I was skankin' like the rest of the ska-crazed Supertone-Heads that were at the concert. For 3 weeks after that concert, I seriously considered buying a chain for my wallet and signing up for trumpet lessons! And then the pure excitement of it all soon wore off as quickly as it had come and I was back to my normal self again. BUT.

I will always remember that concert, for it can only truly be described by one word: CHEM.

This word is pronounced with a cha sound and ends with the letter 'm' sound, as in 'em'.

CHEM.

Phonetically, all together now, class: CHEM.

Very good!

For our purposes, CHEM is a good thing. And from now on, whenever you see someone do something cool, whenever you experience something awesome or sweet, or if you see Zach suddenly vomit Pop Rocks through his nose, we would all say: "Oh man, that was so CHEM."

Got it everyone? Chem is the new "COOL". Chem is the new "SWEET." From now on Chandler Baptist Youth Group is no longer SPECTACULAR . . . it's . . . (that's right) CHEM-TACULAR.

Okay here's the deal. The first person I run into at church who actually uses the word correctly in a sentence, will get a special prize unlike anything you could ever possibly imagine. And no Jayce, it's not free one-on-one Karate lessons with Chuck Norris. Apparently, he's too busy donating blood to be giving people free Karate lessons. But never mind that, I'm getting sidetracked, the PRIZE, yes the prize, will be INCREDIBLE.
