CBC WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's official: THE CURSE HAS BEEN LIFTED. The Chandler boys of Summer came through with a convincing 7-6 win over the Shockers Thursday night. With Ron Dempsey throwing pills from the stretch, to the Owen Bros. perusing the outfield, the team put together a string of timely hits in the early innings to set the pace for this win. Although the Shockers attempted to SHOCK Chandler with a late 7th inning rally that made things close, it wasnt enough. The game should have been a blow out but, the Umpire was decidely off his game when he called out Matt Owen at home plate in a potentially BIG INNING for CBC. Apparently, you dont have to tag runners out anymore! But alas, the good guys won, despite playing without Journeyman Rhett Konneman, who is still rehabbing a bum knee. The team indicates he is getting around better and could possibly see action as early as next week.

Stay tuned to this site for future CBC action, and for a chance to chat in the comment room with the CBC all stars who frequent this site quite often (Zach Owen, and Jay Vanzant just to name a few). Until next game. God Bless.

SKIP TOOMALOO'S POST GAME INTERVIEW WITH ZACH OWEN...

SKIP: So Zach, almost unecessary to ask beacuse we know the answer, how did it feel to beat the shockers and get this 'monkey,' so to speak, off of your back?
ZACH: Well, of course it feels great coming off of that embarrassing loss to Limited Edition last week, but also, it was wonderful lifting the curse of the samurai. If Joe weren't off chasing them away, we could have been in trouble. They tried to make a late appearence there in the 7th inning, but fate had already swung our way in the form of victory.

SKIP: What did you think about that call at home when your brother slid in...safe or out?
ZACH: Sheesh, he was safe like rice is white when its in milk inside a styrofowm cup on a paper plate in a snowstorm. No doubt, no doubt in my mind. The ump had made the call before Matt had even thoguht about coming home. Maybe he should have taken off those sunglasses and started wearing his consistancy glasses instead.

SKIP: What was it like watching that 6th inning bomb
ZACH: Well you know, no one likes to see a homerun go over their head. Ron had been makin good pitches all night, but hung one just a bit, and paid for it. The guy made a good hit, give him credit, but i live to rob homers. Everyone dreams of that. And believe you me, if I had my footing, and the satisfaction of knowing we get juice boxes and granola bars in the parking lot after the game, I would have robbed him. Unfortunately, I lacked both and it got over.

SKIP: Mmm...the feistiness, of a champion. One last question Zach, and its one i gotta ask. Rhett Konneman...lack of strength in his knee? Or lack of confidence in his bat.
ZACH: You know what, I'm not gonna answer that, I'll let you ask him. He's the coach and a player, and i dont think he would just sit out and try to cost the team, just so he doesnt embarrass himself and lower his sub-par batting average as it already is. Even though he insisted on sitting out when we only had 9 players last night, I do not believe it was belief that he couldn't, but belief that WE could without him. He had faith in his team, and we came through.

SKIP: Alright Zach, thanks for your time. Tune in next week folks for our post game interview with Player/Coach Rhett Konneman who is supposed to come off of the 15-day DL next week in time for the game as the men of CBC take on the Big Bucks. Until next time, this is Skip Toomaloo saying, so long.

Every week, I will be announcing CBC's MVP of the previous game. Last night's game ball goes to...

RON DEMPSEY. Ron struggled a bit at the plate, which was very uncharacteristic of him. Despite the setbacks, he managed a single in the first inning to start our 6 run inning. However, Ron's heroics did not come at the plate. He pitched 7 solid innings, proving himself as the pitcher CBC has long been looking for, after a sketchy performance from their pitchers before. With the 7 solid innings, and good defense behind him and a great snag himself, he gets the game ball. Ron, honor it with pride, you deserve it.

yeah i think i can find time out of my schedule to chat with the fans. maybe a little free time between my morning workout, Batting practice, commercial shoot, physical therapy, message therapy, aroma therapy, photo shoot, evening workout, and competitive bingo. Please, autographs after the game only. Some crazy kid standing outside the fence in centerfield was trying to get me to come sign his glove during the game, and it was very distracting.

I understand that the kid was asking about the impressive display of stretching I put on before the game. I have decided that I will in fact hit a homerun in our next game...that is if the wind isn't blowing in and we get some non-dead balls...we were sure blooping the crud out of the ball last game.
