How to Read The Bible for All It's Worth

Bible Reading 101
For those of you out there that have been meaning to start reading your Bible more, but just haven't had time, for whatever reason, then this post's for you.
The easiest way to get started is to climb up the high dive, and jump straight in. "But the Bible can be so confusing and weird, I dont know where to start." Great point. So let's pick a book. How about the book of Mark: The Fast-Paced Gospel.
Mark is one of the shortest books recounting Jesus's life on earth, including his ministry, his 12 disciples, the Lord's Supper, his crucifixion, and his Resurrection. In the first chapter of Mark, you will find:
- John the Baptist Preparing the Way
- Jesus being Tempted by Satan
- The Calling of the very first Disciples
- Jesus Driving out evil Spirits
- Jesus Praying in a solitary place
- and a Man with Leprosy
So read through as much as you can in one sitting. For some of you, that may be a few verses, and for others you may read 3 or 4 chapters.
After you have had a chance to read Chapter 1. Post your thoughts or comments on what you have read. Did anything jump out at you? How can you apply it to your life? How does it help you with your new math class?
You can also post questions from your reading on here. I will try and answer them if I can.
For this particular post, let's try and keep the comments somewhat serious, and be respectful of other people. I know we like to joke and have fun on here, but for this thread, let's try to be thoughtful.
Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs."
I can't wait to see what some of you have to say. My prayer is that all of you become excited about reading your bible and talking about it. You don't have to be a bible scholar to understand the Bible. So get reading!
God Bless - Rhett

Jesus is amazing. Satan tried to shake him but he knew exacly what to say and wouldn't jump into the hole that satan dug for him. I want to be just like Jesus.

i read part of the book yesterday and i read all of that stuff that is listed above
well nothing really jumped out at me but i got all of it pretty well you were definetily right it is alot easier than most other stuff in the bible
so like is it just us thre in here i guess nobody cares about the bible they just like the food and laser tag
haha that's funny and sometimes true Nathan A lot of times kids at our age don't get the whole "Jesus Thing" and they don't understand that being a Christian means getting a whole new life. And not just going to church and acting appropraite there, and the going off and cussing and acting like the devil's best bud anywhere else.
i applaud you that is very well said and i tottaly agree when you are a christian it doesn't mean be good in church it means act as you would there anywhere else
