Laser Tag Recap

Well last night was quite an eventful evening for the CBC Youth group.

Upon arriving at JAEGERZ laser tag facility, the teams were divided into RED TEAM and GREEN TEAM.

Green Team got off to a quick start in game one. Unbeknowst to many of our team members, there was an intruder in our midst picking us off one by one by our recharging station. Before we knew what hit us, several of us were dead before the pesky varmint, later identified as Zach Owen, was terminated, but not before giving Green Team a hefty lead, and eventual Victory.

Game Two was much closer, lots of back and forth fire fights, people learning the terrain, players devising game plans, and interesting strategies ensued. Apparently, using your dead players body as a shield is frowned upon, but myself and Mr. Owen were seen participating in this type of strategory several times throughout the game. Robert New, and Jay could be seen administering the Kamikazee style of attack quite often, with great courage and skill, however, their trickery was short lived, as RED team won the second game 7,242 to 7,239, barely by a hair.

The remaining games we played are fuzzy in my memory, but suffice it to say, they were all victories for the RED Team and blowouts. They could have used the skills of this guy over here. However, I must say this was suprising due to the ever speedy and shifty Drew Dempsey on the Green Team. His skills were only surpassed by that of his father, Ron Dempsey, who had high scores on atleast two of the games. A special shout out goes to Hannah Thaden, who is currently nursing a badly bruised arm as a result of a smackdown she laid on me when I suprised her behind enemy lines (Green Enemy Lines) Barricade. It was a nasty collision, ending with me dying and heading back to the Red Base and Hannah with a bum arm. (I hope your arm feels better :) Hannah)

Also, there is alot to be said for the heroics of Angela, Joanie and Nathan. They were often seen sniping from the elevated position on our base. Im not sure exactly what they were doing, but we kept winning, so I was happy. Now Miranda and Callie, unfortunately couldnt seem to keep themselves from getting killed by Zach, Jay and Jayce. Every time I turned around that Green Team trio was lighting them up. Sheesh. They didn't even have a chance.

In the end, it proved a really fun time. Especially the part when it was over and we were all dripping sweat, needing showers, and then we walked outside of Jaegerz and it smelled like throwup and raw sewage. Gotta love that!! But wait . . . there's MORE!

The white CBC van, which I was driving, wasn't even a mile from the Jaegerz parking lot, when lo and behold, it breaks down on me. NICE. After much praying, we got it started again, going like 15 mph as traffic raced past us going 50mph, as the hood began to shake and clack like a popcorn maker. Then we get to a stop light and we coast to a stop. DEAD AGAIN. I finally get it started again after much honking, only to drive 10 more miles and have it die underneath the 291 overpass. This time there was no more resuscitating it. GAME OVER. Luckily Darrell, Stacey's Dad, happened upon us, and helped us roll the van off the road, down into a ditch, poured gasoline on it, lit a match, and watched it burn. Oh wait, I dreamed that part. But we did roll it off the road. And then Darrell kindly drove us all back to church where we suprised Angela with her 17th Birthday Cake in the youth room.

Needless to say it was a night to remember for everyone. Oh and Zach, you still owe me a dollar. A fun, wild, and crazy time had by all.
